Winter Wonderland By War'Hous, A Delightful Tribute to Fashion Houston

Image
Dandee Warhol of War'Hous Visual Studios  and his factory of pros put on Winter Wonderland 11-11-12... An unofficial kick-off of Fashion Houston 2013 , celebrating music, art and fashion.  Music by Disco Daddies , a fashion music great. Gotta say, this guy keeps it sexy... tough to do.  Not sure if any of the officials from FW showed, but this was quite fantastic. Officially.  It reminded me of a runway show at the Austin Music Hall I took my country cousin to once.  Only then, the models smoked on the runway.  Enjoiah! If you like a pic, link love HEIGHTSTONIAN .  Thanks.  Rachel

My schedule does not permit me to attend this year... Nor the free time I once dedicated to editing... ah the sacrifices of real life. Nonetheless, here ARE the 2012 Fashion Houston shows I could find online, of these same shows, shown round the world before hitting Houston. Day 1 First up...  Georges Chakra  NEXT! Black Halo, Laurel Berman Fall 2012 Spring 2013 NEXT! Maison Rabih Kayrouz Here is the show in Paris... Part 1 Part 2 NEXT UP! I hope all is well with the shows. New leadership is in place that should make for even more flawless productions. I may still make it. We'll see. It's only Day 1 . Goodnight Houston, Fashion Houston and you big'ol world!

VISION: A Factory of shining stars

Image
First came VISION , celebrating a year this month. What is "VISION?" This movement is not just a dj and dancefloor. It's a real underground production, a network of talent that comes together to support eachother and make a go of their greatness, monthly. What I find most intriguing about this group, is, while some mediocre talents are clamoring for the stage and spotlight, many of the major players who actually create the sound and look of the show, PREFER NOT to be revealed, but simply do their job phenomenally and allow the named "star" to shine. A event exclusive to Houston, VISION was first created by Brandon Duhon , frontman and bandmate for breakout talent in his own right, including  glasnost and now Night Drive. (Catch Night Drive at the MFA Mixed Media party over Halloween.) Duhon is busy with this and that, in addition to a tight network of unattainable electro-luxe DJ's called Modern Touch. Where? The oldest nightclub in Houston,

A Lady Can Only Go One Direction, UP!

This is Jessica Wahlquist , model, actress, singer, and "luxocity" de jour. With consistent photo pose direction by me, she was able to pull off angles I see less and less with the models of today who are starting out.  In the beginning, all but a small percentage of even the most gorgeous, don't always move or extend in ways necessary to show the garment or an accessory properly. Without proper direction early in a model's career, the potential is also not fully visible, so the quality of the model and the overall photo falls short and is ultimately a flop in my opinion. Also, I've never believed a model's talent to be under her clothes. With a background in modeling, I was able to reflect on my own experience and draw from Jessica, the poses I needed to highlight an accessory like this gorgeous fascinator for example.  An extraordinary head piece, fascinator, and hat by Violet Peacock  creator, Lindsay Halpin.  Here, I asked Jessica to isolate the
