Thursday's storm shattered building glass onto downtown Houston streets, plucked power tower bases

I finally made it downtown where windows were blown out from Thursday's storm. Barricades prevented me from getting any closer but even from a distance, you can see several windows open from glass falling onto downtown streets.

How forceful were the winds? Check out this photo below of a power tower base that was ripped from the ground in another angle of the power tower down along 290 at 34th.

Power outages continue for many impacted by May 16th tornado

Power companies from out of state were in the Heights doing repair work on outages after more than 4 million were reportedly without power right after the storm.

This was what was left behind on neighborhoods all over the impacted areas.

It took a at least 10 companies who worked around the clock to restore power and more storms are in the forecast for next week.

Down power lines are everywhere and drivers just go over them. Authorities said it could take up to a few days or even two weeks to restore power.

Along the Washington corridor, folks at a bar tried to pull a massive tree off their building using ropes and ladders.

Here's a look at a crumpled power tower on the ground along 34th at 610 North Loop West.

This was an apartment complex on 18th Street just inside the 610.
